Focus lights and Micro Sync

I like your show very much. I really like the guest interviews and the diverse knowledge they bring.

I would love to ask questions like: in episode 2 focus lights were mentioned. What are some brand names and models?

In episode 4, the micro sync was mentioned. Will the monoplug receiver work with an alien bee or are cords needed?

Well Let me also add that I like the rapid fire questions at the close of the guest interviews.

Nice job Bill and Ed.

    Paul,

Glad you're enjoying the interviews as much as we are! Here's some clarification about the things you mentioned:

The focus lights that Mark Robert Halper talked about are just high wattage halogen lamps that provide enough light for focusing. You could use a number of types of lights for this purpose. I often use the room lights in my home studio. The power of the strobes is high allowing me to use a shutter speed which does not allow the focusing light to register in the exposure.

As for microsync wireless slaves and Alien Bees I found that they do work together. You will need an adapter cord to convert from the household socket receiver to the 1/8 inch sync jack in the bee or an adapter to 1/8 inch from the microsync 1/4 inch receiver.

The necessary sync cord (2.5mm to 3.5mm) can be obtained from Paramount Cords at http://www.paramountcords.com or :

    Happy shooting!

hi there! First of i just wanted to say that your website is amazing and it really helped me lots. I love photography so i decided to create a home-studio. However, i just started so i dont know much about the lightings and how it works. What type of digital camera you have to have that will work with all the studio lightings? Because right now I own a Casio EX-257 . THankyou
