First Look: Canon EOS-1D Mark III

Canon EOS-1D Mark III DSLR

The Canon EOS-1D Mark III is a very exciting camera with its vaunted shooting speed of 10 frames per second of hi-res 10-meg pictures. This alone can pique the interest of sports photographers and photojournalists whose paycheck can depend on that one crucial shot that a fast-shooting camera can take.

But that’s just for starters. The new Mark III now also feature a Live View mode so you can see the image being composed on the camera’s LCD or via a remote computer. It can now use a faster optional WiFi transmission system; and there are other new improvements as well: in its autofocus, its stack of custom functions, and Canon’s new dust reduction technology, which first appeared in the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi.

Shawn Barnett of Imaging Resource today posted the first of a series in his hands-on preview of the EOS 1D Mark III. In it, he examines every nook and cranny of the camera and highlights how the Mark III is able to take hi-res images in quick succession. He also has some sample photos posted to give us a feel of the camera’s image quality.
