Filipino Photographer Sweeps PopPhoto 2007 Photographer of the Year Competition

Filipino photographer Marc Aviles shoots not with the most expensive Hasselblads nor the top of the line Nikon or Canon DSLRs. His humble Canon EOS 400D is definitely consumer-grade, but he shoots with the keen eye of a true artist.

That’s why he wins photo contests like the recent one by Pop Photo. He came out on top as “The Best Shooter on the Planet” and pocketed $5,000 in cash after sweeping Popular Photography & Imaging’s 2007 Photographer of the Year competition.

It was a grueling competition, not your everyday submit-your-photos-online-and-you’re-done kind of contest, but a series of shootouts that separate true photographers from wannabes.

Hop on over to PopPhoto.com to read why Marc doesn’t need pricey gear to be the Best Shooter on the Planet. Iba ang Pinoy!
