Fashion Photographer Barbara Bordnick Shares Her Ideas

World-renowned portrait and fashion photographer Barbara Bordnick offers her ideas and techniques in this month’s Kingston Icon of Photography. In her “Technique of the Icons,” Bordnick emphasizes two important skills: knowledge of your subject and lighting.

“Whether you shoot portraits, floral, pets or landscape, understand that every subject has a personality,” says Bordnick. “Lighting is also very important to master, and I recommend practicing with natural light, strobe, and a combination of natural light and manmade, plus various equipment,” she adds.

Kingston’s “Icons of Photography” website, www.kingston.com/digitalmedia/iop, profiles some of the world’s most respected photographers. Each month the company spotlights an Icon photographer who provide tips and techniques as well as a gallery of images.
