The Olympus EVOLT E-330, first to feature a true “Live View” image on the LCD screen, in addition to the optical viewfinder, has won a 2006 Popular Science Best of What’s New Award in the Gadgets category.

“Best of What’s New is the ultimate Popular Science accolade, representing a year’s worth of work evaluating thousands of products,” says Mark Jannot, editor of Popular Science, the venerable magazine founded in 1872 (Jose Rizal could have been reading the mag in his time).

The ‘live view’ feature touted by Olympus allows users to see on the LCD the scene that’s being framed by the camera, unlike most DSLRs where you have to peep through the optical viewfinder to see it.

But DPreview would have none of it. In its review, the online tech website said Olympus’ ‘live view’ feature is just a solution looking for a problem and it’s poorly implemented.
