The just released Knoll Light Factory 3.0 is a Photoshop plug-in that allows you to create lens flares and other lighting effects, including lasers, explosions and suns.
The new version sports an improved user interface, real-time preview and support for Intel Macs and 64-bit OS.
The most common use of the software in photography is to enhance lights such as lamps, streetlights, sky elements, or candle flames. However, many designers also use Light Factory to create sparkling or glowing lights from scratch.
Light Factory was originally written by John Knoll, the co-creator of Photoshop, to create the Photon Torpedoes in Star Trek First Contact.
Knoll Light Factory 3.0 is distributed by Digital Anarchy for $149; but if you hurry and buy it before October ends, you can have the plug-in for a discounted price of $129.
