Corel Launches PhotoImpact X3 Photo Editor

Corel PhotoImpact X3 Photo Editor

Corel has launched PhotoImpact X3, a digital photo editing software aimed at the family memory keeper and the graphic arts hobbyist. In short, they have re-purposed it to compete head-on with Adobe’s Photoshop Elements 6.

We remember that PhotoImpact was the first major bitmap editor to focus on the needs of digital camera owners, back in the days of Ulead before it was acquired by Corel. Back then, it showed a lot of power but sported an old-fashioned and sometimes confusing folder-based approach to photo management.

Let’s see how the new incarnation proves itself. Corel says “PhotoImpact X3 combines easy-to-use photo editing, inspiring photo projects and amazing digital art to make digital photography and image creativity fun, fast and easy.”

According to Corel, the new improvements include an enhanced ExpressFix mode, a new generation of crop tools and the new Corel MediaOne Plus digital media management.

PhotoImpact X3 is now available for $70 compared with Photoshop Elements at $100.
