Compute for Blink-free Photos

Blink

Is there a way to take blink-free photos?

There is, if you really want to figure it out. And I mean really work on some figures, do the math. Skip this one if you hate numbers.

But if you’re interested, here’s how it works: if you’re photographing 20 people or less, divide the number by 3 in good light, by 2 in low light. That’s the number of shots you have to take to ensure at least one blink-free photo.

Don’t laugh; the guys who figured this out are real scientists who won the Ig Nobel award at Harvard. Dr. Piers Barnes and Ms. Nic Svenson got the award for making people laugh and think.

“We are proud to have made a gross simplification of complex physiological and psychological factors backed with no empirical data,” said Dr. Piers Barnes.

If you don’t want to do the math, you can always yell “Nobody blinks!” and take a couple of shots. That should do it.
