Casio Japan today indicated that their two new Exilim zoom cameras, the EX-Z200 and EX-Z100, will begin shipping in March 2008. First announced at CES 2008 in January, the new 10-megapixel zooms are a major bread and butter source for Casio and they plan to produce about 200,000 per month of both models.
Both are stylish models that offer an Auto Shutter function, touted to take the picture at just the right moment that a subject smiles, or at the instant that hand shake ceases.
Targeted mainly at consumer snapshooters, the new Exilims have a Movie Button that lets users record video at the touch of a single button.
The EX-Z200 is image-stabilized while the EX-Z100 is not. Both have 28mm wide-angle lenses with 4x zoom equivalent to 28-112mm (F2.6-5.8). The silver model of the EX-Z200 will begin to ship on March 14, the gold, black and red models on March 21.
