Mike Pasini of Imaging Resource says it’s easy to make friends with the Casio EX-Z1000. In a nutshell, he says it’s a very well-designed, capable camera with only a few minor quibbles.
What are the quibbles? Well, the 3x zoom which seems a little short. But Mike says this is easily compensated by a digital zoom that works well. Huh? I thought digital zooms were always useless.
Not so with this one. The Casio Z1000 has a large 10-megapixel image sensor that doesn’t degrade the photo even when you use the zoom all the way up the stop.
Another quibble? Nothing much really, says Mike, this camera is good. It takes beautiful and very useful pictures and it has a few more tricks up its sleeve.
Take its Best Shot mode, for instance. Casio calls its Scene modes Best Shot modes. Aside from the usual Portrait, Landscape, Night Scene, etc., Mike tried the Z1000’s Business Shot, ID Photo Scene and the Old Photo mode and was pleasantly surprised that these really work!
