Also today, Canon introduced an all-around lens — the new image-stabilized EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS zoom lens — offering a focal length range equivalent of 29-320mm in the 35mm format when used with APS-C size image sensors such as that in the Canon EOS 50D.
Canon claims its built in Optical Image Stabilization system gives the equivalent effect of a shutter speed roughly 4 steps faster, for better image clarity, even in shaky shooting conditions. The new lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.45m/1.5 ft. at all zoom settings.
The new EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens is scheduled to be in stores this October at an estimated selling price of $700.
