Canon Image Nation "Smile 7107" Photo Contest

Canon Marketing Philippines has launched “Smile 7107,” a photo contest to showcase the beauty of the archipelago. 7,107 is supposed to be the exact number of islands in the Philippines, not counting those that disappear in high tide.

The contest is open to all amateur and professional photographers who own or use Canon digital cameras. Canon Philippines is urging them to travel to various destinations in the country and take their photos.

“The Smile 7107 photo competition is just one component of our ImageNation campaign to celebrate Canon’s 10th anniversary in the Philippines,” said Ramon Arteficio, president and CEO of Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc.

There are 10 themes in Smile 7107:

  • Churches
  • Portrait of the Filipino/Faces of the Filipino
  • Flora and Fauna
  • Colorful Fiestas
  • Filipino Food Fare
  • Cityscapes
  • Scenery
  • National Landmarks
  • Delightful Children
  • Nightscapes

There are no entry fees; participants can only submit one entry per theme.

Creative effects done within the camera at the time of exposure, such as multiple exposures, flash fill, lighting, filtration, etc. are allowed. Digital retouching is allowable on density, contrast adjustments, minor cropping on composition, burning, and dodging, and global adjustments. Major manipulation of main images through adding and subtracting are not allowed.

Deadline for entries is on September 15, 2007. See link below for details.
