Canon announced today two new camera models for entry-level consumers, the PowerShot A550 and PowerShot A460, both updating earlier models.
The $200 A550 packs a 7.1-megapixel image sensor, an upgrade from the previous 5 megapixels of the A530. Other improvements are the 2-inch LCD screen, a redesigned mode dial, and an enhanced movie mode that records 640 x 480 VGA movies at a faster 30fps rate.
The $150 A460 meanwhile improves upon last year’s A430 with a higher 5-megapixel count and a slightly larger 2-inch LCD screen over the 4 megapixel A430 with a 1.8-inch LCD.
Both cameras offer convenience by using a set of two AA batteries for power, and being able to print directly from the camera via its PictBridge interface.
