Canon Adds Locks, Barcode to EOS 7D Studio Version

Canon EOS 7D

There’s really nothing new – hardware-wise – with the just announced Canon EOS 7DSV, for Studio Version. It’s still the same good old 7D, but for studio work Canon has added some new features.

The EOS 7DSV adds 4 levels of locking camera controls that allow an administrator to set up the camera and prevent another photographer from changing critical camera settings.

The 7DSV also features the new Canon Barcode Solution. This allows customer, organizational, patient or other data to be embedded into the EXIF data of each image. The Canon Barcode Solution links customer data directly with the image file so that it can be maintained throughout the entire workflow process. This could be ideal for school photographers, forensic and medical photo workflows.

The new EOS 7DSV (Studio Version) Barcode Kit (EOS 7DSV and WFT-E5A with firmware change) will carry an estimated selling price of $2600. The EOS 7DSV (Studio Version) Body Only will carry an estimated selling price of $1829. Both are available by special order through select Canon authorized dealers.
