The Professional Photographers of America has conferred the “PPA Lifetime Achievement Award” on renowned portrait photographer Al Gilbert. A Toronto native, Gilbert’s pioneering career spans more than 60 years. He holds a Master’s Degree in photography and is a Fellow of the Professional Photographers of Canada.
Gilbert has photographed the likes of Martin Luther King, Oscar Peterson, Frank Sinatra and Pope John Paul II. In 2002, he was named as a member of the Olympus Visionary program.
Gilbert’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented at the PPA’s annual convention, Imaging USA, to be held in San Antonio, Texas on January 14–16, 2007.
