Can You Refocus a Photo After Taking the Shot?

Refocus Imaging Inc.

Ren Ng

A young computer scientist at Stanford U thinks you can. Ren Ng is trying to re-invent the camera by equipping it with a technology to capture extra information at the sensor, which is missing in conventional cameras. This extra data can then be processed by a computer program that will implement physical functions of the lens in software, in effect refocusing the photo after the shot.

Ren Ng now has a prototype camera with his refocusing technology and he will talk about it at the December 13th meeting of the Camera Owners of the Bay Area (http://coba.tow.com) in Cordura Hall 100 at Stanford University from 7:30-10:00 pm.

In this talk, the Stanford whiz kid, who also now has founded Refocus Imaging, Inc. to commercialize his work, will present photographs taken with the prototype camera, discuss how it works and how he believes it will affect photographic science and art.
