Buying my first softbox

Hi, I'm just beginning as a photographer, and my next purchase I want to make is a softbox, but I don't know what all I need to get for one (the light that goes in it etc.) and was hoping you could give me some information!

    The simple answer to your question is that you can get started with just a light stand, a studio strobe or "hot light" and the softbox itself. These items often come together in a lighting kit at some cost savings.
