BenQ is a no-show at the ongoing Computex Taipei 2007. The troubled electronics manufacturer has decided to stay away from Taiwan’s biggest electronics show while nursing its wounds.

It plans to save money for other marketing activities instead while moving towards spinning off its branded-products business. BenQ also plans to change its name to Jia Da Corporation and focus exclusively on contract manufacturing, which accounts for 60-70 percent of the company’s business.

BenQ Corp – which sells notebooks, monitors, LCD TVs and lately, cameras – bumped into a wall recently with its ill-fated acquisition of Siemens AG’s mobile phone unit and lost $1-billion. It also skipped last January’s Consumer Electronics Show.

But in an announcement today, BenQ bared their consolidated revenue for the month of May, saying the company’s core business recorded sales of NT$10.6 billion (US$321M), up 6% month-on-month.
