The big advantage of using wireless connection to download photos from the camera to the computer is, of course, the absence of that unwieldy cable. But Artimi Inc. offers more than that; it also offers faster download, up to 480Mbps as a matter of fact, 90 times faster than Wi-Fi enabled cameras.
The Artimi Wireless USB technology for digital cameras allows consumers to quickly and automatically download digital photos, and other digital media content, for storing, printing or sharing by using Artimi’s WiMedia-based ultra-wideband (UWB) technology.
With the technology, consumers can download photos in seconds instead of ten minutes. It’s also thrifty in using power; wireless USB is a low-power high-throughput technology.
Later this year, consumers will be able to purchase Wireless USB dongles and hubs to experience this high-speed wireless connectivity with their existing cameras, computers and printers, according to Artimi. The dongle connects to the PC and the hub attaches to the camera.
Digital cameras with embedded Wireless USB are expected to be available during the first half of next year.
