The Adorama Imaging Resource Center (AIRC) launched today its Studio Lighting Basics series of how-to articles, designed help aspiring studio photographers decide which lighting gear best serves their needs.

Its first installment is the article “What Are Monolights?” by veteran photographer Joe Farace. In the article, Farace essays the benefits of these self-contained studio flash units and describes the different kinds of monolights available, defines the key terminology and recommends specific light units.

There will be three more articles in this four-part AIRC series. The articles are part of the well-respected New York-based camera retailer’s ongoing efforts to help consumers improve their photography.
