Adobe today announced two new upgrades to its digital photo and video software for consumers, Photoshop Elements 6 and Premiere Elements 4.

Photoshop Elements 6, priced at $100, is what you might buy if you can’t afford the $650 price of Photoshop CS3, though you might also want to consider Corel’s Pro Photo X2, priced at the same $100.

Adobe says Photoshop Elements 6 streamlines editing with clean, uncluttered screens that bring focus to the photo. New tabs provide simple access to the many capabilities of the program. There are new enhancements in PE6.

Adobe Premiere Elements 4, on the other hand, makes it possible to create entertaining movies in just minutes. The new Organizer, the same found in Photoshop Elements, helps sort video clips and still photos with visual tagging options for people, places, or events. Video enthusiasts can apply movie themes to a sequence of scenes in just a few clicks, creating a movie complete with transitions, effects and DVD menu, according to Adobe.

APE4 is also priced at $100, but if you get both (Elements & Premiere), you can buy a bundle of both software for $150.
