Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 Now Also Available for the Mac

Adobe Photoshop Elements 6

Banish the idea that Photoshop Elements 6 is a light version of Adobe Photoshop CS3. PSE6 has come into its own as a very capable photo editor and organizer. Unlike Photoshop CS3 which comes with gazillion functionalities you don’t really use, PSE6 concentrates on what it does best: photo enhancement and management.

Now, Adobe is releasing a Mac version of PSE6 at a pre-order price of $90 (the Windows version was released earlier at $100). In advance of its early Q2 2008 ship date, the Macintosh community will get its first peek at the new product features during the Macworld Conference & Expo, Jan. 14-17, 2008 in San Francisco (Booth #S1302).

One cool feature of the new PSE6 is Photomerge. Even Photoshop CS3 does not have it. With Photomerge Group Shot, you can combine heads and bodies of people from different shots of the same scene and merge them into one perfect photo. This is useful because, let’s face it, it’s often difficult to get a perfect group picture of folks in a single shot.

To help you enjoy PSE6 more, we recommend Barbara Brundage’s book, Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manual. It’s a good guide.
