A $9 Macro Lens?

home made macro

What is this monstrosity? This, my friends, is called a macro lens DIY style. Some guy with a strange handle, Rautiocination (he might as well be Dr. Frankenstein), brags that he spent only $9 to rig this one.

Well, it turns out he already had two lenses, an EF 90-300mm and an EF-S 18-55mm that he coupled together using a $9 adaptor bought from eBay. The resulting monster can magnify 16 times like a good macro lens can, and he has some macro photos to prove it.

I’d be diggity-dog. Put another drop of lens there in front, the kind you get from a disposable camera and you can have your high-powered microscope, Dr. Frank.
