The contest is open mainly to photojournalists of the Asia News Network, a group of Asian dailies who share news and editorial content with each other, but other press photographers and amateur shooters from all over the world are also welcome.

Theme of the contest is “Changing Asia,” and it follows international custom and usage. There will be eight categories in all; namely, Spot News, General News, Economic, Scientific and Technical News, Portraits, Daily Life, Sports, Arts and Entertainment News, and Nature & Environmental News.

Each category will have one Gold Prize which also carries a $1,000 cash award. Winners will announced on June 1, 2007.

The 2nd APPC is organized by the Asia News Network, spearheaded by the China Daily and supported by 16 leading Asian newspapers in 14 countries.
