No, it’s just the prices of DSLRs cameras that are falling. Just a few years ago, “affordable†meant about $2000; today, most major camera manufacturers offer digital SLRs at $500 or less.
Within the $800-$1000 range you can get very respectable cameras like the Pentax K10D, Nikon D80 and the newer Canon XSi and Sony Alpha A350, all complete with lenses.
